Last night I attempted to sit through a performance of Stockhausen's Klang by the London Contemporary Orchestra at the Roundhouse here in London. I failed. It was the single least enjoyable experience I have ever paid actual money for, inclusive of dental surgery. The only good thing to come from the night was 4 fun pairs of colourful glasses which make you feel like you should be on drugs, teenage and at a festival caked in shite and wading through empty cans of Tenants; a far superior option to sitting through this shite performance.
I love modern-day Ireland and the rapid pace at which things are changing. When I was growing up, I was well into my double digits before meeting anyone even so much as a different colour to me; last week I met an Asian couple playing Irish trad. on the streets of Galway and was greeted "Dia Dhuit" by a Lithuanian man in the pub. The times they are a-changing, and that change is fantastic.
